Our collaboration relied on only two colors, cyan and magenta, and focused on page spread designs with overlapping, enlarged numbers, patterns, and blocks of color to embody the life and emotion in Kent’s rules in print. Size: 8 x 8 in. Medium: Adobe InDesign About: I created a tryptic of 8x8 squares, made up of letterforms contained in 16 one inch squares. I used both uppercase and lowercase letters from a variety of serif and sans serif fonts to explore the diversity in each form. Focusing on contrast, scale, juxtaposition, and whitespace, I created abstractions that embody life-like movement. |

I experimented with different combinations of serif and sans serif fonts, rules, black and white contrast, letter weights, and alignments. Size: 8 x 11 in. Medium: Adobe InDesign About: Over the course of two weeks, I collected images of unique uses of type in the world. I selected three samples of type found in online advertisements, each consisting of two letterforms, to create a tryptic of 4x6 square. I relied on letters’ distinct weights, textures, and background colors to create earthy abstract designs. |
